Objectifs - Singapore

I would have loved to meet one of the founders or directors of Objectifs, a non-profit gallery dedicated to photography and moving images, and one of the most inspiring in Singapore. But, as often happens during business trips, I can only visit between meetings, in those brief intervals that become moments of quiet inspiration.

Objectifs shares many affinities with the vision I have for Galerie Bokeh: a non-profit space devoted to visual creation in all its forms. It brings an original perspective to Singapore’s art scene, seeking to tell stories through the power of image and imagination.

Its activity is vibrant, with exhibitions, screenings, workshops, talks, and artist residencies. There is a fine balance between artistic development and public engagement.

Housed across a row of traditional wooden shophouses with colorful façades and a former Methodist chapel painted in bright yellow, the gallery stands in striking contrast to the vertical and spectacular architecture of modern Singapore.

An invitation to step into color.

The annual Women in Photography 2025 exhibition featured photographers from across Asia.

Each artist explored a story through a subtle, cohesive scenography. The choice of formats, colors, and placement of works guided the viewer’s gaze, creating an almost narrative journey where the visitor became a witness to a visual story.

Between immersion and emergence, the body is reborn.

An intimate story, like Cy Liu’s series on the journey of becoming and transformation.

Or a collective one, like Ore Huiying’s Mekong, on the currents and lives displaced by development, where the river carries both memory and change.

The rhythm of the river, and of a world in motion.

Through this visit, once again, photography connects places, stories, and ways of seeing.
